About Us
Hospice of the Bluegrass, Pikeville Office provides end-of-life care to residents in Floyd, Magoffin and Pike counties. We care for patients at home and in long-term care facilities. In most cases a team member can respond within 24 hours of referral to begin the admission process. Click here to learn more about the basics of hospice care and admission criteria.
How We Work
At Hospice of the Bluegrass, we work as an interdisciplinary team. This team is comprised of the patient’s physician, a volunteer medical director, nurse, social worker, chaplain, bereavement counselor, volunteers, and most importantly the patient.
Payment Options
Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance carriers cover hospice services. Memorial gifts, donations and in-kind contributions provide for those who cannot afford to pay for care. At Hospice of the Bluegrass no patient is ever denied care for lack of payment.
Hospice Care Center
As part of our commitment to end-of-life care, Hospice of the Bluegrass established the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center, a 12-bed inpatient unit located in Hazard to address the unique medical needs that may be best provided for in an inpatient setting.
Volunteer Opportunities
These include, but are not limited to patient care, administrative/office tasks and special events. Hospice of the Bluegrass sponsors a variety of programs, training sessions and fund-raising activities throughout the year.
